This section is to provide education and some tools for you to get yourself (and keep yourself) going if you cannot or do not wish to engage in a session. So get yourself a great notebook & pen dedicated to your work, or you can use the online forms here.
Additional note: any ‘forms’ you fill out are completely offline and not stored anywhere other than with you if you wish to save them to your device at the time (this means there’s also a chance the data will be lost if you click the back button, so take care)
We all need to 'check-in' every now and then (actually, often to be honest) and this exercise will help make that action simple. Check out the examples and thoughts below to kick-off and then you'll be able to monitor your entire state of being as well as bring awareness you may not have gained just going about your day. Click the button below when you're ready to complete your Self Audit (you can also print to PDF on your device if you'd like to save a copy; remember, it's not saved anywhere else but with you).
How do you see yourself physically at the moment? Are you fit/unfit? Are you proud of your physical state? Are you having trouble moving? Do you experience lethargy? What would best describe your physical body right now?
How would you best describe the mental side of your life at the moment? How’s the thought processes and mindset going? Are you struggling with overwhelm or perhaps you feel focused? What’s one word that would sum up your mental state right now?
How well are you handling your emotions? Can you identify them? Is someone or something in your life causing you emotion? Do you feel in control or out of control? How do you react to certain people and things? What’s the word you would use to best describe your emotional side of life right now?
How would you best describe your current spiritual side of life? This is not necessarily about religion or other belief system as such, but more about your personal faith. Do you trust your life? Are you out of practice from meditating, praying, just…..being with yourself? Do you have a great belief and faith? What is your spirituality and what is the current state of it to you, today?
How’s your financial side of life? Are you challenged, growing, blessed, struggling? How do you currently see your financial side of life today?
How would you describe your social life today in one word? Might you say it’s adventurous? Lacking? Overdue? Abundant? If you were to best describe your social life right now in one word, what would it be?
What about your vocation? This doesn’t have to be a job by the way, it can be whatever you fill your days with, whatever takes up the most amount of time in your day that would be a direction in life, like parenthood, full time hobbies, volunteering etc. Whatever it looks like for you, what would you best describe this as at the moment? Fulfilling? Empty? Confusing? Frustrating? Wholesome? How do you feel this side of your life is going today?
When we think of family, a lot of us might think the thought is about all the others in the family and how that’s going. In this side of life, I want you to think of the first image that comes to you (immediate family, whole extended family, your cat…. whatever family looks like to you) and go with that. So, what does that side of your life invoke for you right now, today? Are you seeing it as lonely, supportive, challenging, strong? What one word would best describe your place in your family (as you see it) right now?
This area is about more than just physical intimacy with a partner. It’s about the secret side of your life that you don’t share with others too, it’s your core person. So how would you describe that area of your life right now? Might it be felt as open or shutdown, careful or trusting, missing or fulfilled? How might you best identify your perspective on your most personal side of life right now?
If you're finding yourself facing multiple 'challenges', a sure-fire way to build yourself up to face them and turn things around, is to boost your self confidence. Getting a boost of confidence is as simple as taking time out to remind yourself of why you're amazing! This exercise will prompt that activity. If you're stuck for ideas, use the question generator below by pausing it at random.
Here are some of my favourite titles so far, to get you started (please note I will write from my own experience, please search for other professional reviews as you wish):
This book is incredibly insightful and educational on the subject of trauma and what trauma does to the body physically. It also delves into the connection with the mental and emotional. This is one of my absolute favourites for understanding some key elements in our reactions to trauma.
This ‘directory’ is not for everyone as it challenges conventional understanding of physical symptoms, however I have used it a LOT since I found it, for perspective and insight into potential EMOTIONAL reasons for certain symptoms. I remember when I looked up (within the book) the reason for a symptom I was experiencing at the time, being caused by a lack of self-love (and I had literally just done something to undermine myself), I stopped the thing and the symptom ceased, I could not deny the correlation. I value this book as a ‘tool’ and a resource that I use at times when I feel drawn to.
